In “Sunshine,” the “Can’t Buy Me Love” star plays a young gymnast facing the tough realities of both teenage pregnancy and the intense pressure of competing for a spot on the national team. As her character grapples with these challenges, a mysterious figure enters her life, unraveling unexpected revelations that alter her perception of family and resilience.
The announcement of Sunshine’s participation in the festival was made by Project 8 Projects, the film’s producer, who shared the news with enthusiasm on Instagram, saying, “Sunshine goes to the US!”
This is not the first time the film has been selected for a film festival internationally. In September 2024, the film was also featured in the 49th Toronto International Film Festival’s Centrepiece section, which showcased 43 films from a wide array of countries.
